Bus Conversion Repair in Chino

The short answer

OCRV Center repairs bus conversions and skoolies in Yorba Linda, from steel-bodied transit and school bus shells to raised roofs and converted interiors. We have the bay space and lift capacity for full-size buses, all in shop, with insurance billed direct.

Ballpark: $1,000 to $150,000+

A bus conversion starts as a heavy steel or aluminum transit, coach, or school bus and becomes a home, which means the body is rugged commercial construction and the modifications are anything but standard. Raised roofs, cut window openings, and added bays change how the shell carries load. Our facility has the size and lift capacity to take a full-length bus in, and we repair both the original commercial body and the conversion.

Heavy commercial shell, custom modifications

Transit and school bus bodies are built on a steel or aluminum frame with riveted or welded panels and a rugged roof structure, which is great for durability but heavy and unforgiving to repair without the right equipment. Conversions then cut into that structure, raising the roof, removing window rows and plating them over, or adding bays and storage, which changes how the shell handles stress and where it rusts and leaks. We repair the original commercial body and the modifications together, addressing corrosion at the rocker, wheel wells, and roof seams that bus bodies are prone to.

Raised roofs are a common conversion that we repair and reseal frequently, because the splice where the roof was lifted is a structural and leak-critical joint. We weld, panel, and seal that work properly so it is sound and dry, not just patched.

  • Steel and aluminum bus-body panel and structural repair
  • Raised-roof splice repair, reinforcement, and reseal
  • Plated-over window and added-bay opening repair
  • Corrosion repair at rockers, wheel wells, and roof seams
  • Full-length bay space and lift capacity for full-size buses

Paint, roof, and structure on a full-size bus

Refinishing a full-size bus takes booth length and a lot of surface area, and conversions often carry custom paint, wraps, or graphics that have to be matched. We refinish the body, repair and reseal the large flat roof these buses carry, and address any leak before it reaches the converted interior. On the structure, we straighten and repair the heavy frame and body so doors, bays, and the raised roof line up and seal.

  • Full-body refinishing and custom paint or graphic matching
  • Large flat-roof repair, reseal, and leak tracing
  • Heavy frame and body straightening to keep openings square
  • Bay door, hatch, and added-opening alignment and seal
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you have room for a full-size bus conversion?+

Yes. Our 35,000 square foot facility has the bay space and lift capacity to take a full-length transit or school bus conversion in. Many shops simply cannot fit a bus, which is why these rigs are hard to place. We bring it inside and do the body, roof, structural, and paint work in shop.

My skoolie has a raised roof that is leaking at the splice. Can you fix it?+

Yes. The splice where a roof was raised is both a structural joint and a common leak point. We repair and reinforce the splice, weld and panel it correctly, and reseal so it is sound and dry rather than just patched over. We also check the converted interior for any water that already got in.

There is rust on my bus body. Will you address it during the repair?+

Yes. Bus bodies rust at the rockers, wheel wells, and roof seams, and converted buses often have plated-over windows that trap moisture. We cut out and repair the corrosion in sound metal, treat the area, and refinish so the repair lasts rather than bubbling back through the paint.
