Structural Damage Assessment in Chino

The short answer

OCRV Center performs measured structural damage assessments on RVs, vans, and trucks at our Yorba Linda shop, separating cosmetic damage from compromised load paths and producing a written report that documents the findings for you and your insurer.

Ballpark: $750 to $20,000+

After a hard hit, the dent you can see is rarely the whole story: a frame can twist, a slide can shift, and damage can hide behind fiberglass for months. A structural assessment finds it before you pay to fix the wrong thing. We measure, photograph, and document, then write up exactly what is structural and what is cosmetic. Every assessment is done in shop in Yorba Linda.

What a structural assessment includes

We start by measuring the vehicle against factory control points to find any frame, chassis, or body distortion, then trace the load paths to see how far the energy traveled from the impact. We pull panels and access points where needed to inspect behind the skin, because the most expensive surprises are the ones an estimate written off a photo never catches.

The output is a written report: what moved, by how much, which load paths are compromised, and what the structural repair requires. That report separates true structural work from cosmetic damage so the repair plan and the dollars line up with reality, not guesswork.

  • Measured comparison against factory control points to locate distortion
  • Load-path tracing to map how far the impact energy traveled
  • Inspection behind fiberglass, panels, and trim for hidden damage
  • Clear separation of structural damage from cosmetic damage
  • Written report with measurements and photos for your records and insurer

How the assessment supports an insurance claim

Adjusters work from documentation, and a vague estimate invites pushback and supplements. A measured structural report gives the carrier hard numbers and photographs of the control points, which is exactly what supports the structural line items on the estimate. We bill insurance direct and supply the assessment so the claim reflects the real scope of work.

An honest assessment also protects you from over- and under-repair. If the structure checks out and the damage is cosmetic, we say so. If a load path is compromised, the report shows precisely why the repair is necessary, so you are not paying for work the vehicle does not need or skipping work it does.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my RV needs a structural assessment after an accident?+

Any significant impact is worth a measured look, but specific warning signs include doors or slides that suddenly will not seal, uneven or rapid tire wear, a body that looks twisted, or a pull while driving. These point to frame or structural movement that a photo estimate will miss. If you are unsure, bring it in and we will measure it.

Is a structural assessment the same as a repair estimate?+

They are related but not the same. The assessment is the measured engineering picture of what is damaged and which load paths are compromised. The repair estimate is the priced plan of work that follows from it. We do the assessment first so the estimate is built on measured facts rather than assumptions, which also reduces supplements later.

Will the cost of the assessment count toward the repair?+

In many cases yes. When the assessment leads into a structural repair we perform, the diagnostic time is typically folded into the job. We quote the assessment up front and explain how it applies, and when the damage is part of a covered loss we document and bill the carrier direct.
