RV Slide-Out Motor and Gear Repair in Chino
OCRV Center repairs and replaces slide-out motors, gearboxes, and the controllers that drive them when a room clicks, hums, or refuses to move, all diagnosed and fixed in our Yorba Linda shop.
When a slide just clicks, hums, or does nothing at the switch, the problem is usually in the motor, the gearbox, or the controller that powers them, not the room itself. OCRV Center tests the motor and its control circuit under load, finds whether the fault is electrical, mechanical, or a stripped gear, and replaces the right part so the room drives smoothly again.
Motor, gear, and control faults we fix
A slide that hums but will not move often has a motor that has lost torque, a stripped gear or coupling inside the gearbox, or a drive that is jammed against a bind elsewhere in the system. A slide that does nothing at all is frequently a controller, relay, limit switch, or power-feed problem rather than the motor itself. We test before we replace so you are not paying for a motor when the controller was the fault.
We service the brushed gear motors used on Schwintek corners, the worm-drive gearboxes on in-wall systems, and the motor-and-pump units on hydraulic slides. Where a gear or coupling has stripped, we replace it with the correct component for that drive rather than a generic substitute.
- Slide motor replacement when torque has dropped off
- Stripped gear and coupling replacement
- Controller, relay, and limit-switch diagnosis
- Power-feed and ground-circuit testing to the motor
- Hydraulic pump and motor service on ram-driven slides
How we keep a new motor from failing again
A burned-out motor is often a symptom, not the root cause. If a rail is dragging, a rack is worn, or the room is out of square, the new motor is forced to pull against that resistance and overheats just like the last one did. We check the drive load before and after the swap so the replacement is not set up to repeat the failure.
After installing the motor or gear, we run the room through full cycles while monitoring current draw, confirm the limit switches stop the room correctly at both ends, and verify the controller is reading travel properly so the slide stops where it should without stalling.
- Drive load checked so a new motor is not overloaded
- Current draw monitored across full cycles
- Limit-switch stop points verified at both ends
- Controller travel calibration confirmed
- Coordinated with mechanism repair when a bind caused the failure
Frequently asked questions
My slide just clicks or hums and will not move. Is the motor dead?+
Maybe, but not always. A click or hum can be a failed motor, a stripped gear, or a controller and power-feed problem. We test the motor and its control circuit under load to find the real fault before replacing anything.
Why did my slide motor burn out?+
Often because the motor was fighting a drag elsewhere, such as a worn rack, a dragging rail, or a room out of square. We check the drive load when we replace the motor so the new one is not set up to overheat the same way.
Do you fix the controller too, or just the motor?+
Both. Many no-move slides are a controller, relay, or limit-switch issue rather than the motor. We diagnose the whole drive circuit and repair the actual cause in our Yorba Linda shop.
