A spongy or buckling RV floor is almost never just a flooring problem. It is a moisture and subfloor problem wearing a flooring disguise. We probe for soft spots, open the floor where the rot lives, replace the failed subfloor, and only then lay the new surface, because new vinyl over a rotten deck simply fails again.
Finding the real problem under the floor
Before we quote a flooring job we walk the coach and probe for soft, flexing, or delaminated areas, then trace where the water came from. Common sources are slide seals, the entry door, plumbing under the galley and bath, and window leaks that run down inside the wall and pool at the floor.
Where the subfloor has failed, we cut it out, dry the structure, and replace it with the right thickness of moisture-tolerant decking, blocked and fastened to the framing. Fixing the source of the leak is part of the job, because replacing wet decking without stopping the water just buys you a few months.

Flooring built for a vehicle that moves
Houses do not flex, twist, or bake in a closed-up parking lot. RVs do all three, so we install flooring rated for movement and temperature swings. Luxury vinyl plank and sheet vinyl are the workhorses because they tolerate flex and moisture, while click-lock laminate and tile are used selectively where the substrate and expansion are managed.
We pay close attention to transitions, slide-out edges, and the seam where the floor meets the slide room, because that is where a poorly planned RV floor lifts and curls first. Proper expansion gaps and quality transitions keep the floor flat after a season of travel.

Pulling flooring usually means moving furniture, removing slide trim, and sometimes detaching cabinets, which is exactly why we do it in shop rather than in a driveway. With the coach in the bay we can lift what needs lifting, replace subfloor properly, and put everything back square.
When the floor damage comes from a covered loss such as a roof or window leak, we document the moisture path and the repair and bill the insurance carrier direct for the covered portion.

My RV floor feels soft in spots. Can you just put new flooring over it?+
No, and we will not. A soft spot means the subfloor is wet or delaminated. We replace the failed decking and stop the leak first, otherwise new flooring laid over it will fail in the same place.
What flooring holds up best in an RV?+
Luxury vinyl plank and sheet vinyl are the most forgiving because they handle the flex, moisture, and temperature swings an RV sees. Laminate and tile work in the right spots when the substrate and expansion are managed properly.
Can you replace flooring under the slide-outs?+
Yes. We handle the slide-room floors and the seam where the slide meets the main floor in shop, since that transition is the first place a poorly installed RV floor lifts.
