OCRV Center repairs and re-aligns bent, sagging, and corroded chassis on motorhomes, vans, and commercial trucks at our Yorba Linda shop, pulling the rails and cross members back to factory control points so the rig tracks straight and rides level.
The chassis is the steel ladder everything else bolts to, and once it twists or sags the whole vehicle suffers: tires scrub, the body leans, and the ride gets harsh. We anchor the chassis on our bench, measure it in three dimensions against factory data, and bring it back into tolerance. All work happens in shop at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda.
How we repair and align a chassis
Chassis work is geometry before it is metalwork. We clamp the vehicle to anchor points, hang gauges or run a measuring system off the factory datum holes, and compare every reference dimension against published spec. Only then do we know exactly where the rails moved, how far, and in which direction.
From there we apply controlled hydraulic pulls in stages, letting the steel relax between passes so it returns to shape without cracking or work-hardening. Sagging rails on heavy diesel pushers often need a section reinforced or replaced rather than simply pulled, and we fabricate and weld those repairs in house.
- Anchor the chassis and measure against factory datum points in three planes
- Stage hydraulic pulls so rails and cross members move without tearing
- Repair or replace sagged frame rails, cross members, and outriggers
- Re-set ride height and confirm the axles sit square to the frame centerline
- Recheck doors, slide rooms, and cap seals against the corrected geometry
Why heavy chassis need a real shop
Most collision shops cannot get a 40-foot Class A or a loaded box truck onto a frame bench, and pulling a fully boxed RV chassis takes anchoring capacity a car rack does not have. Our 35,000 square foot facility has the floor space and tie-down capacity to clamp and pull the largest rigs we service, all under one roof.
Because alignment on a coach affects more than tire wear, we verify the house structure after the chassis is true. A frame that is straight again but checked only at the axles can still leave a slide binding or a door out of square, so we close the loop on the whole vehicle before it leaves.
Frequently asked questions
Is chassis alignment the same as a wheel alignment?+
No. A wheel alignment adjusts toe, camber, and caster at the suspension. Chassis alignment corrects the frame structure itself, the rails and cross members the suspension bolts to. If the chassis is bent or sagged, no amount of wheel adjustment will hold, so we straighten the structure first and verify ride height before anyone touches the suspension geometry.
My RV tracks crooked but was never in a crash. Can the chassis still be off?+
Yes. Years of heavy loading, a sagging tag axle, corrosion in a rail, or a hard pothole hit can move a chassis without an obvious collision. We measure against factory control points to find where it shifted, then pull or reinforce as needed. Bring it in and we will tell you whether it is the chassis or something simpler like worn suspension.
Can you bill my insurance for chassis repair after an accident?+
Yes. When chassis damage comes from a covered loss we document the measured findings, photograph the control points, and bill your carrier direct. The written measurement report becomes the backbone of the structural portion of the estimate so the adjuster sees exactly what moved and why the repair is necessary.
