RV Fresh Water System Repair in Chino

The short answer

We diagnose and repair the entire potable side of your RV in our Yorba Linda shop, from the fresh tank and pump to every supply line, then pressure test and sanitize before you take it home.

Ballpark: $285 to $8,500

Your fresh water system is everything between the fill port and the faucet: the tank, pump, accumulator, and the PEX or PVC supply lines that feed it. When you lose pressure, find a soft spot in a cabinet floor, or taste plastic and mildew, OCRV Center traces it to the source in shop. We work the potable side specifically, separate from the gray and black waste systems, so the water you drink and wash with is clean and the lines that carry it hold pressure.

What we repair on the potable side

A fresh water fault is usually one of three things: a leak, a pressure problem, or contamination. We isolate which by charging the system on shop water, watching the pump cycle, and inspecting every run from the fill to the last fixture. Pinhole leaks in a PEX elbow behind a wall do not announce themselves, so we pull access panels and follow the wet trail rather than guess.

Most coaches use a 12V demand pump that should hold pressure and shut off when no fixture is open. A pump that short cycles, runs dry, or pulses points at a failed check valve, a waterlogged accumulator, or air drawn in on the suction side. We rebuild or replace the pump, set the cut-off pressure, and confirm it holds static before signing off.

  • PEX, PVC, and quick-connect line and fitting repair
  • 12V demand pump replacement, rebuild, and pressure setting
  • Accumulator tank and check valve replacement to stop short cycling
  • Fresh (potable) holding tank crack repair and refit
  • Pressure regulator and city-water inlet repair

Leak tracing and freeze damage

Southern California rarely freezes hard, but a coach that traveled or wintered elsewhere can come in with split lines and a cracked tank from a single freeze the owner never saw. We pressure test the dry system with air before we ever add water, so a hidden split shows up as a measurable drop instead of soaking a cabinet. Once located, we cut back to sound pipe and join with crimp or expansion fittings rated to the line.

A slow leak is the expensive one because it rots subfloor and feeds delamination long before it puddles. When we find water damage behind a fresh line, we document it and coordinate with our fiberglass and structural teams so the substrate gets dried and repaired, not just the pipe.

  • Static air pressure testing to find leaks before adding water
  • Cut-and-splice repair of split or frozen PEX runs
  • Cracked fresh tank repair or replacement with proper strapping
  • Coordination with structural team when a leak has reached subfloor
  • Documentation and photos for insurance billed direct

Sanitizing and water quality

A system that sat with standing water grows biofilm, and that is the plastic, swampy taste owners describe. After any repair we flush the system, run a measured chlorine sanitizing solution through every line and the tank, dwell it, then flush clean and confirm there is no residual odor at the tap. This is the same step we run on a de-winterization so the coach is genuinely ready to use.

We can also fit and service inline and under-sink filtration so the fix lasts. Filters that are never changed restrict flow and become their own contamination source, so we set them up where they are reachable and tell you the cartridge interval.

  • Full system flush and chlorine sanitizing of tank and lines
  • Odor and taste diagnosis (biofilm vs. tank vs. filter)
  • Inline and under-sink water filter fitment and service
  • De-winterization with sanitize for coaches coming out of storage
  • Faucet, aerator, and supply-valve replacement
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why does my water pump keep running even when no faucet is open?+

That is almost always a leak somewhere downstream or a failed check valve or accumulator. We charge the system, isolate sections, and find whether the pump is chasing a real leak or chasing itself. Both are common and both are repairable in shop.

My water tastes and smells like plastic. Can you fix that?+

Yes. That taste is usually biofilm in a tank or lines that sat with standing water, or a filter that was never changed. We flush and chlorine-sanitize the whole potable system and address the source so the taste does not come back.

Do you work on the black and gray tanks too, or just fresh water?+

This service covers the fresh, potable side only. The waste side is a separate system with separate concerns, and we handle that under our waste water tank repair. We keep the two apart so clean water work and sewage work never cross.
