Unibody vehicles like Sprinter and ProMaster vans carry their loads through the body shell itself, so a hit in the wrong spot distorts the whole structure, not just the panel you can see. We pin the body to a frame bench, measure it against factory data, and pull it back into tolerance. All straightening is done in shop in Yorba Linda.

## How unibody straightening works

A unibody has no separate frame, so the floor, rockers, pillars, and reinforcements all share the load. When one zone collapses in a collision, the deformation travels, and a door three feet from the impact may no longer close because the opening shifted. We anchor the body on a bench and use a measuring system referenced to factory control points to map exactly where the shell moved.

Pulling follows the reverse of the impact. We set anchors and pull towers, apply load along the original force path, and bring the structure back in measured stages while watching the gauges. Sectioning and replacing a crumpled rail or pillar is done only at factory-approved locations so the engineered crash behavior is preserved.

## Why van and conversion bodies need measured pulls

Eyeballing a unibody pull is how a van ends up with doors that latch but never seal, or sliders that bind in the track. The tolerances are tight, and a pillar pulled a few millimeters past spec changes every gap around it. Working to measured numbers, not feel, is what gets the body back to where the doors, glass, and seals all fit.

On camper conversions the stakes are higher because cabinetry, a roof penetration, or a slide may be tied into the body. We straighten the shell to spec first so those built-in components return to their correct positions, then hand the vehicle off for refinishing or interior work as needed.

### Is unibody damage on a Sprinter van repairable, or is it totaled?

In most cases it is repairable. Sprinter and similar vans are engineered so damaged structural sections can be straightened or sectioned and replaced against factory data. ### How is unibody straightening different from frame straightening?

A body-on-frame vehicle has a separate steel chassis you pull independently of the body.
