# Spot Repair and Blend Matching in Chino

> OCRV Center repairs localized paint damage and blends the new color into adjacent panels so the repair disappears, all in shop in Yorba Linda. Spot and blend work is far cheaper than a full repaint, with most jobs falling well under a complete refinish.

When a single panel is scratched, scuffed, or freshly repaired, a full repaint is overkill. The challenge is that a faded coach never matches a fresh mix exactly, so the trick is not just painting the damaged spot but feathering the color out into the surrounding panels until the eye cannot find the edge. We do that blending work in shop at our Yorba Linda facility.

## How blending hides the repair

Spraying color edge to edge on one panel leaves a hard line against the older paint next to it. Instead we apply the base color over the repair and then fade it out, lighter and lighter, into the neighboring panels. The clear coat then goes over the whole blended area so there is no clear edge to catch light. Done right, the repair vanishes into the original finish.

On metallics and pearls this matters even more, because the flake has to lay the same direction and density as the factory panel. We adjust spray distance and technique to match the metallic orientation, not just the color.

## What we use spot repair and blend for

Spot repair and blend matching is the answer whenever damage is contained to a section of the rig rather than spread across the whole finish. We focus the work on the affected area and the panels immediately around it.

- Scratches, scuffs, and key marks that did not break structure
- Stone chips and road rash on caps and front panels
- Refinishing a single replaced or repaired panel
- Blending a collision repair into undamaged adjacent panels
- Touch in and blend on faded or sun beaten sections

## Reading a faded panel before we spray

A coach that has lived in the California sun has shifted color, so the factory formula alone will not match. We spray test cards, hold them against the actual panel in booth light and in daylight, and tweak the mix until it reads true. Only then do we commit to the rig, which is how a blend ends up invisible rather than close.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you match my faded factory paint for a spot repair?

Yes. We mix to the formula and then adjust to the actual faded panel, spray test cards, and blend the color out into the surrounding panels so the repair disappears. A good blend is the difference between a repair you can spot and one you cannot find.

### Why blend into nearby panels instead of just painting the damaged spot?

Because a fresh mix almost never matches aged paint exactly, even when the formula is right. Fading the new color out into the adjacent panels removes the hard edge where new meets old, so there is no visible line. Blending is what makes a partial repair look factory instead of patched.

### Is spot repair cheaper than a full repaint?

Almost always. Spot repair and blend matching focuses labor and material on the damaged area and the panels around it, rather than the entire coach. When only a section is damaged, it is the most cost effective way to get a clean, matched result, and we write the estimate in shop after we see the panel.
