# RV Winterization and Weatherproofing

> We seal, insulate, and winterize coaches in shop so weather and freezing temperatures do not turn into expensive damage.

Most expensive RV repairs start as a pinhole in a roof seam or a tired seal that let water creep into the walls. OCRV Center seals, coats, and weatherproofs coaches for Chino owners to keep moisture out of the structure. We renew roof membranes, reseal every penetration, replace worn slide and door gaskets, and add barriers before storage or a hard freeze.

## Roof sealing, coating, and seams

The roof is where hidden water damage almost always begins, so we start there. We map the membrane for soft spots and lifting edges, cut out failed sealant around vents, caps, antennas, and skylights, and lay fresh self-leveling and lap sealant. A full elastomeric or acrylic coating then goes over the deck to shed water, block UV, and slow the wear that ages a roof.

## Seals, seams, and moisture barriers

Water also sneaks in low and along the sides, so we work every seam and opening the roof does not cover. We replace slide-out wipers and bulb seals, renew door and window weather stripping, and rebed exterior trim, molding, and compartment edges in fresh sealant. Underbelly wrap, skirting, and moisture barriers finish the job, keeping wind, road spray, and damp out during winter storage.

## Frequently asked questions

### When should I weatherproof my RV?

Before long off-season storage or the first hard freeze, whichever comes first. Bring the coach to our Yorba Linda shop and we will reseal the roof and seams, renew the gaskets, and add barriers so a wet or freezing stretch does not turn into costly damage.

### Can you find and stop a roof leak?

Yes. We trace the leak to its source, whether a split seam, a failed vent seal, or lifted sealant, repair it, and recoat the deck. Sealing the entry point keeps water from tracking into the walls and floor.

### Do you seal slide-outs and windows too?

Yes. Slides and windows are common leak points once their gaskets harden. We replace the wiper and bulb seals, renew the weather stripping, and rebed the frames so the openings stay tight in rain and wind.
