# RV Roof Vent and Skylight Repair in Chino

Every vent, fan, and skylight is a hole cut in the roof, sealed by a flange and a bead of lap sealant, and those penetrations are where most roof leaks actually start. We replace the failed cover, dome, or fan and reseal the flange to the membrane so the opening is sealed the way the factory intended. All work is in-shop only at our Yorba Linda facility.

## Vent and skylight work we handle

The usual jobs are a cracked or sun-yellowed vent cover, a powered roof fan that has stopped or will not close, and a skylight dome that has crazed, cracked, or leaked at the frame. Because each one is a roof penetration, replacing the part is only half the job. The flange and the sealant around it have to be redone or the leak comes right back.

## Reseal the opening, not just the part

We pull the old unit, scrape the flange and surrounding membrane back to a clean surface, set the new vent, fan, or dome on fresh butyl or putty tape, and run a continuous bead of self-leveling lap sealant over the flange. A skipped or thin reseal is the single most common cause of a vent leak, so the sealing step gets the same care as the part swap.

Since a leaking penetration may have already let water into the roof, we check the area around the opening for soft decking or staining. If water reached the structure, we flag it before we seal over it so you are not closing a wet substrate inside the roof.

### My RV roof vent or fan is leaking. Is it the unit or the seal?

More often than not it is the seal around the flange, not the unit itself. The lap sealant cracks and lifts with age and UV, and water tracks under the edge. We can reseal a sound vent, or replace the unit and reseal the flange if the cover or fan itself has failed.

### Can you replace a cracked skylight dome over the shower?

Yes. We source the correct size dome for your opening, set it on fresh tape, and reseal the flange with self-leveling lap sealant. We also check the frame and the surrounding roof for water damage, since a cracked dome usually means it has been leaking for a while.

### Do you check for hidden damage when replacing a vent?

Yes. A leaking vent may have already let water into the roof, so we inspect the decking around the opening for soft spots and staining before we seal the new unit. If water reached the structure we flag it rather than sealing over a wet substrate.
