Sun and road exposure break that coating down, and the bare plastic underneath oxidizes into the familiar yellow haze. We mask the surrounding paint and trim, then wet sand the lens through progressively finer grits to physically remove the oxidized and failed coating. Once the surface is uniform we machine polish the plastic back to clarity and apply a fresh UV-resistant clear coat so the lens stays clear instead of clouding over again in a few weeks.
